Citizens to Label Genetically Engineered Food will send a Service-Learning Workbook to help you and your teacher/mentor organize a great Service-Learning project.

Beginning Fall 2008, Citizens to Label Genetically Engineered Food is offering internships to all majors. This exciting opportunity is an ongoing position available year round, offered for academic credit and/or wages. Students will work from their home campus and report daily by phone and email to the Executive Director. This internship will appeal especially to students in programs on the environment, sustainability, political science and communication.

Job Description: Recruit signatures to petition the Federal Government to label genetically engineered food. Promote the Petition to schools, businesses and organizations, appropriate on-line forums, local and national press; demonstrating how genetic engineering is not a sustainable technology, why it may be dangerous to human health, and the need to protect America's freedom of choice. There is also the possibility of travel to green events to attend the Bioneers conference and All Things Organic.

Skills required: Research, journalism, public relations, political advocacy, phone and internet marketing. We are looking for individuals who have the desire to safeguard the integrity of plant and animal species, promote biodiversity, protect organic food from contamination, and uphold our right to pure food and informed choices. Phone and internet access are required. Flexible scheduling can be arranged according to academic requirements.
